If The Shoe Fits, Wear It

by Gertrude Blackwell Bailey

Mothers, go to school very unexpectedly,

And you will see some of your children

Doing their acts in school.

When you walk in, you might find

That he never was in his classroom

For days at a time.

But, when he is,

He gives that teacher one hard time.

He disturbs the class,

So the teacher cannot teach

No matter how she tries.

If she speaks to him,

He opens his mouth

And the words that come out,

Will leave you in disgust.

But, when he brings his report card home,

He tells you that the teacher picks on him,

And wouldn't give him the right marks.

He takes you for such a jerk,

Because he knows you will believe him,

And we hear him laughing with his friends --

"My mother believes anything."

Now the time has come

To give that teacher some credit.

So don't go to that school mad.

If you had to put up with those brats,

You really couldn't take it.

Take a hint, go to school.

No matter how long it takes you,

If you and the teacher work hand-in-hand,

You may have time to save him.

Now don't get mad at what I said.

If the shoe fits, you just wear it!
